We use woods and tropical timber exclusively from sustainable forestry which are certified. Solid wood is a natural product and reveals the character and history of the tree, which may have been growing for 50 to
100 years. Small knots, intergrowths and fine cracks are natural characteristics. Wood is “living” and reacts to fluctuations in room temperature and humidity. A balanced indoor climate, but not too dry, is recommended. It is normal for wood to change its colour due to the effect of light. This is proof of the natural product’s authenticity.
Most woods can be stained in a variety of tints. They retain their natural grain structure but can be adapted to different environments. Even with the most careful processing, slight colour variations can always occur. Our furniture is treated with an environmentally friendly hydro varnish containing less than 2% solvent.
Transparent varnish: normally our furniture is treated with waterbased varnish or two-component varnish. These surfaces are generally easy to care for, resistant to staining and fairly scratchproof. The UV-resistant varnish also slows down the darkening of the wood. The protective film of the lacquer protects the wood from soiling.
Coloured varnish: most wood types can be varnished in RAL colours or by the NCS colour system. The structure and grain of the wood are completely concealed (except with “open pore varnishing” on oak or ash).
High-gloss surfaces are especially sensitive to external influences (e.g. rivets on pants, impact loads, etc.). These traces of wear are easier to see on glossy surfaces and may be bothersome. We recommend handling this piece of furniture with care and advise against its use in the contract segment. Any damage claims due to surface damages are excluded and cannot be pursued.
Velvety, sensual, smooth as glass – the high-quality surface material ThonetDur® not only offers optimal protection for durable Thonet wooden furniture but also makes them a haptic experience. The silky matt look gives the visual impression of a smooth surface.
The 1.2 mm thick laminate – as opposed to the regular processing of this material – is dyed throughout. ThonetDur® is available in the versions Cool White, White and Deep Black. The edge of the wooden surface is available with the laminate or in oiled walnut or oak.
HPL laminate is a duroplastic product consisting of several paper webs that are impregnated with resin and compressed at high temperature and pressure into a homogenous board. Paper impregnated with melamine resin and a transparent overlay create an impact-, scratch- and abrasion-proof surface. Additional properties include resistance to heat and light, disinfectability and resistance to chemicals. Laminates are easy care. Boards made of solid laminate have a visible black edge. Upon request, we also process Fenix laminate for an additional charge.
Powder coating is the electrostatic application of a powder which is melted with heat. It is solvent-free. The metal parts have a satin finish. The colour tone RAL 9006 can only be achieved on metal and turns the surface silk matt.
This is a synthetic material with a high resistance to chemicals. Its lightfastness is 7-8 and it is resistant to degradation from UV light. Polypropylene can be completely recycled and easily disposed of thermally.
