The A-frame style of the S 760 provides versatile and space-saving stackable seating. It is designed with efficiency in mind, even if the room layout changes regularly. The chair consists of an ergonomically contoured seat shell made of moulded plywood, which is connected to the two tubular steel legs via plastic leg bracket coverings. A stacking groove integrated into the plastic covering automatically centres the next chair in a stack, allowing up to 20 chairs to be stacked almost vertically. This results in safe stacking and compact storage, even with a large number of chairs. The range also features two stacking trolleys to easily transport the chairs: the S 7608 and the S 7609 which comes with a handle, both of which are fitted with castors and a locking mechanism. The plastic coverings are designed to minimise damage from frequent stacking and unstacking and, by concealing the connecting screws and bolts, also give the chair its clean, minimalist look.
The moulded beech veneer shell has a generous waterfall edge at the front of the seat and a slight give, ensuring a high level of comfort even during longer events. For even greater comfort, the chair is also available with various upholstery options and a higher backrest.
The legs of the S 760 have been optimally angled, so that they do not get in the way when walking between rows. They are available either in chrome or with a black powder-coated finish. The scratch-resistant, corrosion-resistant and easy-to-clean surface makes the chair particularly durable, so it can stand up to daily use. Custom colour schemes are also available on request.
The optional, anti-panic row-linking mechanism on the S 760 consists of a discreet component fitted to the frame bracket. It is intuitive to use, so that the chairs can be easily linked without the need for any additional parts or tools. This allows rooms to be quickly adapted to different layout requirements. The anti-panic linking system complies with the relevant requirements for assembly venues. The frame is fitted with Quick-Click gliders, whose glider surfaces can either be covered in Teflon-coated plastic or felt, which ensure that the chairs can be moved quietly and protect delicate floor coverings.
The S 760 is available with or without armrests. Both versions can be stacked or linked in any combination, as the centre-to-centre distance of both is a consistent 53 cm. Thanks to the uniform colour scheme, the armrests blend harmoniously into the plastic coverings. Their elastomer covers have a soft-touch surface for a pleasant feel. The covers are also easy to clean and can be replaced if necessary.
A range of complementary accessories offer further options for customisation. A fold-out writing tablet as well as seat numbers and clip-on row numbers are all available. The fold-out writing tablet can be fitted without any tools onto all models, with or without armrests. In addition, there is no need to remove the writing tablet when stacking or linking the chairs in rows.
The S 760 is available with optional flame-retardant coverings, thereby complying with standard fire safety requirements and making it suitable for use in public spaces and assembly venues. If a seating space has requirements that cannot be met by the standard options, Thonet can, as always, create a customised design catering to the particular project specifications. The frame can be widened, for example, or the shape of the seat shell modified. For easy positioning, the chairs can also be fitted with a grip hole upon request.
Thanks to the chair’s modular design, individual components can be easily replaced without having to replace the entire unit. The option of having such repair work done ensures that the chair remains functional for many years to come. This significantly extends the product’s lifespan – a factor that has always been a priority at Thonet.
