Classic Thonet chairs featured in Vossius & Partner law firm, Munich

As one of Europe’s leading law firms in its field, Vossius & Partner advises clients around the globe on all aspects of intellectual property law. The team of lawyers and patent attorneys works out of four locations in Germany and Switzerland. For the firm’s headquarters in Munich, local architects Kontrapunkt Architektur have created a new interior design, which will also be used in the firm’s other locations. Custom-made fixtures in Vossius’s new corporate colour blue combined with furniture in elegant walnut, chrome and stainless steel embody the company’s perception of itself and the image it wants to project to its clients, partners and employees. The conference rooms of the Wilhelminian villa, with their opulent stucco ceilings, feature Thonet’s iconic S 64 N cantilever chair, designed by Marcel Breuer at the end of the 1920s. The designers opted for the Pure Materials oiled walnut version with matching armrests and black mesh seat and backrests. The Pure Materials collection exclusively uses solid wood sourced from sustainably managed forests. In order to preserve the appearance of the wood’s natural grain, the surfaces are only lightly oiled, which gives the products a particularly high-quality appearance.

“The armrest chairs made of luxurious walnut with chrome-plated frames lend an air of pure, timeless elegance to the white, high-ceilinged rooms of the turn-of-the-century villa,” explains Matthias Hajek of Kontrapunkt Architektur. Thonet’s classic cantilever chairs are a perfect match for the big, solid-walnut conference tables.

Pops of colour catch the eye in the employee common areas: here, the architects included furniture and fixtures in Vossius’s corporate blue. These common areas as well as the employee café are fitted with custom-made furniture, such as benches and a kitchenette, and are complemented by Thonet’s contemporary 118 coffee house chairs with canework seats stained in the special colour steel blue (RAL 5011). “The high-quality iconic chairs in walnut and the new, blue interpretations of the classic 214 are an ideal fit for Vossius’s new corporate design,” enthuses architect Matthias Hajek.
