A favourite jacket, a leather tote, a well-used piece of furniture ... We cherish the objects in our daily lives that adapt through intensive use and upon which we leave our traces. They become personal, distinctive, and truly unique.
This is one core idea behind the concept of “Pure Materials”. Signs of wear and tear are intentionally embraced, granting each piece of furniture its unmistakable character. Natural wood, distinctive full-grain leather, and a conscious handling of materials define this refined collection, purposefully created for longevity and lasting value. Over time, use creates a natural patina that lends every piece an individual aesthetic.
We exclusively use solid wood: ash, oak, and walnut. The surfaces are solely treated with oil, highlighting their natural grain. Areas touched more frequently become smoother over time. For protection and surface treatment, we use a specialized linseed oil-based finish that is solvent-free. If required, surfaces can be re-oiled easily at any time.
For our bentwood classics in the “Pure Materials” collection, we use select local ash. Alongside traditional beech, ash is ideally suited to the traditional steam-bending process. It is an exceptionally strong yet elastic timber with a distinct, open-pored structure. The material receives minimal treatment so that its lively grain remains tactile. The bentwood chairs are available in two versions: light oiled or dark stained with a natural wood varnish finish.
For the seat and backrest covering of our classic chairs, we also offer a synthetic mesh fabric. It is tear-resistant, colorfast, easy to care for, and exceptionally durable – making it an ideal match for Pure Materials. This solution-dyed polyester monofilament mesh already contains approx. 30% recycled content and can be mechanically recycled after years of use.
For our Pure Materials collection, we offer a range of leathers varying in thickness and grain. Alongside premium full-grain nubuck, we offer natural nappa leather in various shades. The collection also includes full-grain saddle leather and open-pored buffalo leather. None of the leathers are sanded, embossed, or lacquered. The hides originate in Europe and are processed in compliance with strict environmental standards. All leathers in the Pure Materials line develop characteristic traces of use over time, creating a bespoke look. Sturdy stitching ensures high durability and longevity; slight creasing will naturally develop over time, enhancing the leather’s authentic appearance.
Pure Materials upholstery leather is a natural product. Please note that natural variations in surface texture, color, and structure may occur. These characteristics demonstrate the authenticity of genuine, high-grade leather. Variations in shade and structure are not defects, but rather hallmarks of genuine quality.
