A significant part of his inspiration comes from being on the move: foreign cultures, personal encounters, architecture, cafés, restaurants, hotels or trade fairs – anything that catches the eye and tells a story. This outward-looking perspective is complemented by specialist books, social media and continuous dialogue with design and creativity in the digital space.
His home reflects this very mindset: reduced, open and shaped by a deep appreciation for materials and timeless design.
Recently added to the space are two S 32 VL lounge chairs, crafted in oak with a natural wood lacquer finish and a chrome-plated frame. They lend the room a sense of lightness and structure.
“The Thonet S 32 VL lounge chair is a true classic for me. My first design piece was the Thonet S 32 V, and ever since, I’ve been fascinated by the lightness and the materials of this design. In my living room, the lounge chair almost appears to float – it can stand freely in the space and, thanks to the Viennese canework, has a wonderful transparency that prevents it from ever feeling heavy. At the same time, it is incredibly comfortable: the slightly wider seat and the lower frame invite you to linger.” - Konrad Pichlmeier
Konrad values what is grounded and authentic. He is interested in quality, craftsmanship and objects made to last. He finds strength and renewed energy in nature, through travelling and in exchanging ideas with those close to him. Friends, family and his passion for bringing joy to others are an integral part of his everyday life.
The S 32 VL fits effortlessly into Konrad’s world at home – a piece of furniture that, through its iconic formal language, materiality and transparency, does not merely occupy space, but creates it.
