Custom-fit conference furniture for the redeveloped town hall in Eching, Germany

Thonet’s extensive portfolio of conference and meeting furniture is perfect for stylish conference halls and interactive meeting rooms, creating a harmonious look while fulfilling the requirements of each unique space. The redeveloped town hall in Eching in Upper Bavaria showcases Thonet’s conference tables and chairs. Managed by Wehkamp/Köhler-Architekten (architects Susanne Wehkamp and Tobias Mattes), the project features numerous chairs from Thonet’s S 53 range as well as tables from the A 1700 Evolution range – some of them in custom-fit versions.

The renovation and expansion of the town hall – built in 1973 – used wood and other natural materials to create a warmer feel in what is now a modern, sustainable and cleverly designed administrative building. Particular attention was paid to the choice of furniture; the large conference hall on the ground floor, for example, has been elegantly redesigned and equipped with the latest technology. For this room, Thonet supplied a v-shaped table system that met the architects’ specifications and is based on the A 1700 Evolution table collection – specially developed for conferences, meetings and training seminars. The tables were designed for the precise number of municipal council members and administrative employees, with an allocated space for the mayor exactly in the middle, and have also been fitted with digital screens for the chairpersons. The entire table system features media technology (media modules, microphones and control buttons), and the cables are partially hidden in the table legs. These are finished in chrome-plated aluminium with white inlays to match the table surfaces.

Stühle: S 53 SPF

Thonet’s A 1700 Evolution table range is perfect for creating fixed table system solutions that are designed and custom-fit for a specific room, such as the conference hall in Eching. But its flexibility also makes it ideal for rooms with a variety of uses, since the tables can easily be set up and taken down without the need for any tools. There are numerous formats, tabletops and frames available to fit individual layout requirements. The system is rounded out by a wide range of accessories, such as media technology, privacy screens, storage solutions and power sockets.

Comfortable chairs from Thonet’s S 53 range with a seat shell in oak veneer and upholstery in various shades of blue have been chosen for the conference hall. Chairs with armrests (S 53 SPF) are used at the table and additional seating (S 53 SP shell) is provided on the built-in benches around the edge of the room. The elegant and versatile S 53, which is based on the cantilever design principle, was also chosen for the town hall’s meeting rooms. With its continuous seat shell frame, the chair is exceptionally comfortable, with clean lines and the level of quality synonymous with Thonet. It is available in two different back heights as well as a swivel chair version.
