co:viron coworking space

A flexible, independent workspace where freelancers, sales representatives, the self-employed, start-ups and employees of small and medium-sized companies can work in a creative atmosphere. This is exactly what the coworking space co:viron has to offer. The future-oriented New Work location is part of the “Environ” zero-energy building, located in the newly created Innovation Quarter in the city of Rheine in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the River Ems. In direct proximity to the railway station and only one kilometre from the city centre, co:viron is ideally located for commuters, business travellers and visiting clients.

The design concept behind this substantial coworking space, developed by architect Daniel Westen, aims to boost social interaction, creating an enjoyable working environment. The diverse workplace models range from flexible desks in shared rooms to individual offices, while relaxation areas and conference rooms also offer flexible options and encourage coworkers to interact. Ultimately, co:viron’s goal is to create an inspiring environment where users can make valuable connections in order to develop and implement their innovative ideas together. The various different work and social areas within the co:viron coworking space are available to all coworkers to use freely throughout the day, even at short notice and without being tied in to long-term contracts.

Communicative togetherness

Chairs: S 43, S 43 F
Table: 1500
Chairs & bar stools: 214, 209, 118, 118 M, 118 H, 118 MH
Table: 1818
Side table: 1025

And the furniture is just as versatile as the workspace models. The ultra-modern, sustainably designed interior features natural colours and materials and is perfectly set off by the Thonet furniture chosen for the coworking areas, the café, the creative zone and the meeting room. Black 118 chairs harmonise with the S 43 cantilever model, the black-coated tubular steel frame of which contrasts nicely with the natural wood tone of the seat and backrest surfaces. They are joined by bentwood classics such as the 214 and 209, the upholstered 520 wooden chairs and the S 32, another tubular steel classic. The many different chairs and seating options are intended to reflect the diversity of the coworkers and also allow for flexible seating groups of various sizes and shapes. Tables from the 1500 range, as well as the 1025 and 1818 sidetables, complement the seating landscapes with their practical work and storage surfaces. The result is a wide variety of working layouts, encouraging interaction among the users and boosting cooperation.

“Coworking aims to promote interaction and productivity by giving people the opportunity to sit together,” explains Carsten Menne, Senior Partner at co:viron. “That’s why it’s especially important we show our tenants we appreciate them, by providing high-quality and versatile seating options. The unique quality of Thonet products lets us do just that. The design classics integrate perfectly into our coworking space, not only visually but also in terms of our wider concept.”

But it is not just in relation to design that the many Thonet products fit exceptionally well into the concept; they are also on the same level when it comes to sustainability, since the building concept implemented at co:viron is just as sustainable as every piece of Thonet furniture. Relying on renewable thermal energy, the entire coworking area is heated using state-of-the-art wastewater and geothermal energy technology. Electricity is supplied exclusively from sustainable sources, including the facility’s own photovoltaic system.

Triple glazing combined with a back-ventilated light metal façade also guarantees optimal external insulation, ensuring a pleasant temperature all year round.
