Located on the Belgian coast, Bablut is a fine dining establishment serving creative dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant’s tasteful interior is the work of interior designer Pierre Daems. With a nod to the Art Deco movement, the dining room combines high-quality materials: luxurious natural stone elements are set against a backdrop of dark wooden cabinets, and a golden bar serves as a statement piece.
In addition to the shimmering gold accents, Thonet’s elegant bentwood 210 R chairs take centre stage. 15 of these sculptural pieces have been chosen for the dining room seating, in stained black beech and natural canework. With its sweeping frame that forms both the backrest and armrests, the chair invites guests to linger. The backrest provides additional support and comfort, while the canework lends the chairs a light, airy feel. The Swiss architect Le Corbusier was fascinated by this chair, remarking almost a century ago that it “possesses nobility”. All in all, the perfect choice for this high-end restaurant in Heist-aan-Zee.
The restaurant also uses four 204 RH Thonet barstools for seating at its shimmering gold bar. The legs of the barstools are manufactured using the traditional bentwood process, while a tubular steel ring provides extra stability and functions as a comfortable footrest. In a stained black version with natural canework, the barstools perfectly complement the elegant bentwood classics at the restaurant’s tables.
