Assembly Gliders

Information for fitting gliders to tubular steel frames

Gliders can be added to Thonet tubular steel frames after delivery. When frames have pre-drilled or punched holes for screws, the gliders are attached using self-tapping metal screws. This process may require the use of force. The Phillips head screws should be driven in using a suitable screwdriver bit and a good battery-powered screwdriver. If using a manual screwdriver, more force will be required. We recommend the use of a suitable technical lubricant or a little machine oil to counter the resistance when driving the screw in. Use a soft brush or swab to apply the lubricant or oil to the screw and start to drive it in.
