FUNKE MEDIENGRUPPE IN ESSEN

The ultra-modern media centre of the FUNKE Mediengruppe in Essen is a pioneering space, both in its architecture and its technical concept. New Work at its best: open-space offices, middle zones for meetings and private discussions, conference and training rooms, lounge, company restaurant and service centre all come together to form a creativity hub. The design focused on communication between the employees, the promotion of highly effective workflows and on meetings points for visitors and customers.

The designers from Beck Objekteinrichtungen, which specializes in contract furnishing, opted for two different types of Thonet armchairs in the open spaces. The lounge chair 808 plays with the contrast between the protective shell and openness, offering a place for quiet retreat. The model chosen by the designers – a chrome-plated steel frame, a seat and backrest covered with black, natural nappa leather and an outer shell in anthracite – blends unobtrusively into the spacious facilities. A smaller club chair, the S 833, complements the larger 808 chairs with its angular yet fluid lines. With leather covers in vivid medium-brown and a four-star base of polished aluminium, they are an eye-catching addition to this effortless lounge look.
