Nested Tables B 97 celebrate 75th anniversary.
|
|
During the 1930s a series of internal Thonet designs was created simultaneous with the developments by Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Among them is the B 97 nested side tables, which we have been producing since 1933. With their clear form they are one of the classics of our tubular steel collection. The U-shaped design allows the tables to be pulled over the edge of sofas or beds, a highly practical functional detail. With their timeless design, they excellently fit into modern living environments.

TDA – The Design Annual, Frankfurt, 2008
"Inside: Showtime" was the motto of the trend trade fair from July 4-7, 2008. James Irvine conceived our presentation following this motto: a box, 10 meters long and 1 meter deep, into which showcases with different dimensions are inserted and viewed like "peep shows." In this stage-like setting we presented the icons of our collection, from the bentwood and tubular steel classics to our current successful models such as the sofa S 5000 and the wooden chair program 404 by Stefan Diez; for the first time we presented the narrower version of the 404, ready for serial production.
The attractive exhibition box now decorates our showroom in Frankenberg.

"White Night" – event at the Düsseldorf showroom.
The color white, consistently used throughout, from the furniture to the catering, amazed many of the guests. The products presented themselves in a surprisingly lightweight way with white textiles and leather combined with high-quality wood and shiny tubular steel. Werner Lippert, the renowned maker of the NRW Forum, spoke about the stylish color white.

Company matters: new tubular steel bending machine in plant 2.
Since April 2008 a new all-electric 12 axis tube bending machine has been reinforcing our production capacity. The advantage of this type of machine, in contrast to the former hydraulic model, is improved precision and clearly reduced use of energy. The machine can bend tubes up to 40 mm in diameter and a total length of 6 meters with the appropriate tools. In addition, it is equipped with an automatic loading magazine, which increases productivity.
