S 79
Design:
Josef Gorcica, 1995
The chair typology
of the tubular steel cantilever chair has been closely connected with
Thonet since its invention by Mart Stam in the 1930s. A number of
models especially suitable for the conference and meeting segment
stem from this tradition. They all have the high sitting comfort in
common, the clear reserved design and high quality. In the case of
models S 78 and S 79, the covers are stretched between flat steel
frames. Alongside the flexing effect of the cantilever construction,
this upholstery offers additional sitting comfort. All models are
also available in a stackable version.
With armrests. Base
frames chrome-plated tubular steel. Armrests in stained solid beech
or maple. Seat and backrest upholstered, covered with leather or
fabric. Chair S 78 R with attractive backrest made of woven rattan
cane. In the case of S 78 and S 79 V backrest and seat are
separated.
