S 43 H

Design:
THONET, 2002

The classic S 43 by Mart Stam forms the basis for this design. It adopts the chair's construction and materials and translates them into a barstool. In all of his furniture designs Mart Stam banked on the straightforwardness of the form, aesthetic economy of means and improved sitting comfort. In the case of the S 43 he combined the tubular steel frame with molded plywood shells for seat and backrest and thus achieved an absolute reduction. The comfortable flexing effect of the frame eliminates the need for cushions.

Without armrests. Frame and foot rest chrome-plated tubular steel. Molded plywood sets in various woods and stains, with black or white laminate, and varnished in 11 colors. Also available with upholstered wood shells, covered with leather or fabric.
