Thanks to the careful renovation of the building erected in 1983 it was now transformed into a creative meeting place for scholarship holders from Germany and Japanese creative artists – the VILLA KAMOGAWA. Exhibition "Furniture Design – Roentgen, Thonet and Modernism"

until September 4, 2011 at the Roentgen-Museum, Neuwied

Abraham Roentgen (1711-1793) was one of his epoch's most important furniture manufacturers. In 1750 he opened his manufactory in Neuwied. The history of our company began only a few kilometers away, in Boppard, when Michael Thonet founded his joinery in 1819 at the age of 23. It later developed into a globally operating company. The exhibition presents numerous originals from both manufacturers and their influence on the furniture history of modernism.

Note from the editor
Management: Peter Thonet and Karl-Heinz Gloe as a team

The experienced manager and corporate consultant Karl-Heinz Gloe has been accompanying our company on its way towards a comprehensive restructuring since the end of last year. Everything is going by plan and the restructuring will most likely be concluded by the end of June. We have also seen a positive development in revenues; in the first quarter 2011 we recorded a revenue increase of more than 10% compared with the previous year. Peter Thonet and Karl-Heinz Gloe will continue their joint management of the company's businesses until the end of 2012.
