Classics for Kids

Classics for kids

Children's furniture has a long tradition at Thonet. Even back in 1873 the catalog included small chairs and tables, complemented in the 1884 catalog with bentwood beds and cradles. The first tubular steel furniture from the 1930s included numerous models for children, as well. Today, we are producing classic designs – made of bentwood and tubular steel – for our young ones that come out of this tradition.

Higher regional court judgment

Urteil OLG

Copyright for basic cantilever chair models confirmed for Thonet. The ruling of the Düsseldorf higher regional court again confirmed that it is illegal to produce copies of our cantilever chairs by Mart Stam from the year 1926 (S 33/S 34) and S 43 from 1931. The artistic copyrights for the chairs, which we took over from Mart Stam, have been the property of Thonet since 1961. We are fighting for them in order to preserve the origin of this revolutionary construction idea today and in the future, and to protect consumers from plagiarisms.

Especially for the occasion, four classics S 43 with rallye print, an initiative by our product development team, were on display as unique pieces.
