New executive management.

Upon turning 65 in March 2008, on May 1, Claus M. Thonet will join the Advisory Board and withdraw from executive management of the family-owned company. He is to be succeeded by Roland Ohnacker, whose last position was as Managing Director of Drabert GmbH in Minden. The areas of responsibility for Peter Thonet (product development, marketing, and sales for Germany) and Philipp Thonet (international sales) remain unchanged.   Chair program 404 by Stefan Diez in serial production.

The wooden chair, developed by the German designer Stefan Diez, was first presented at the Salone del mobile in Milan 2007 and met with a lot of interest from visitors and journalists. Since February this model has been part of our standard program. Currently available is the bigger version 404 F, with the small, 404 chair to follow in mid-year. We are working on further projects with Stefan Diez. In January 2008, the German magazine "Schöner Wohnen" awarded the chair the title "New Classic".

Thonet exhibition at Modus Berlin: Stefan Diez -
having a rethink. Furniture for Thonet and more.

This exhibition was designed by Stefan Diez to mark the market launch of his furniture designs for Thonet. It also provides an insight into his works in various fields. The speech at the opening will be given by Prof. Dr. Florian Hufnagl, director of the "Neue Sammlung" at the "Pinakothek der Moderne" in Munich. The concept of this exhibition is such that it can be taken over by other Thonet-partners or design centers.
The exhibition runs from April 30 to May 31, 2008

Homely textiles - by Fanny Aronsen.

We have enlarged our collection of textiles and can now offer a selection of the Fanny Aronsen Collection. The Swedish textile designer mainly works with natural materials; almost 30 different groups of colors are selected in such a way that they form harmonious combinations. The designs are created in her studio in the Netherlands and manufactured by the best weaving mills in Europe. We have selected those textile ranges which perfectly match our furniture.

Exhibition Tips

Historic pieces of Thonet furniture are an essential part of current museum exhibitions in Europe. Most of the original pieces on loan come from our own collection.

"The Age of Industry 1848-1871", at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin (24.4.-31.8.2008). The exhibition showcases the industrial upturn and the emergence of a new world of industry and commerce as well as the zest for progress and the fulfillment of the visions of the enterprising middle classes between the outset of the revolution and the establishment of the German Empire.www.dhm.de

"Adventures with Objects. Alexander von Vegesack Collecting Design", Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli, Turin (20.3.-6.7.2008). This exhibition presents more than 200 objects from his private collection, a mix of furniture, lamps, textiles and many fancy and unique pieces.
