Cane work - a natural material
 Rohrgeflecht wie S 32 oder Bugholzklassiker |
Material. Cane work, also called
rattan, is a vine that grows in the tropical virgin forests of
Indonesia. It is considered an especially robust material. Cane has
many ecological advantages: it has the quality and resistance of
nature, and the plants quickly grow back. We purchase the woven mats,
cut them apart and carefully, manually insert them in the wood frames
of seats and backrests.
Care. Natural materials need special
attention. The cane work should be dampened on both sides on a
regular basis in order to preserve its elasticity - this is
especially important in dry or air-conditioned rooms. Sustained
dryness makes the natural material brittle and prone to cracking.
Soiled spots can be cleaned with a damp cloth and soft soap. If
filaments come off, they can be reattached with glue. Strong
concentrated stress to the cane work should be absolutely avoided.

New. For chairs that are subjected to
harsh stress, we have developed a new procedure: a highly durable,
transparent and barely visible plastic netting is stretched beneath
the natural cane work. You can recognize this version by the "V"
added to the model number.
Repair service. Should the cane work of
your chair get damaged due to harsh stress it can be professionally
exchanged in our service unit. Please contact your specialist
