Eddie Harlis, born in 1928 in Osnabrück, intensively dealt with questions of form and construction. After World War II and having been a prisoner of war, he trained as a carpenter and later studied at the Werkkunstschule Hildesheim. Starting in 1953 he worked as an interior designer and designer. He developed a number of products for Thonet; among his other clients were COR, Kaufeld, Profilia and WK. As an interior designer he furnished bars, restaurants, cafés and stores. Eddie Harlies died in 1985 on the island of Majorca.
